Café Doberman: II
Orkater/Lars Doberman
Lars Doberman has opened a café!
- Oh! Sounds good, is that a new show or something?
No, but they’ll be playing around the whole evening with musical instruments and all sorts of illustrations they’ve found.
- Hmm. Is it some sort of improvised research thing?
Well, erm...
- A sort of open workshop?
Er, hmm..
- A creative happening, without any time and/or outcome pressures?
Salient detail; they sometimes refer to it as the Dober Caff...
- Oh, okay. And so they play music do they?
Yeah, with loads of instruments, but they say they’re not a band.
- So it’s not a concert?
Yeah, no... an evening of looking at pictures! Mixed up with live music: Café Doberman!
- That sounds vague!
Yeah exactly, Lars is really up for it!
- Nice! See you this evening!
Orkater/Lars Doberman is the music-theatre collective comprising Reinout Scholten van Aschat, Matthijs van de Sande Bakhuyzen, Jochem van Laarhoven, Mattias Van de Vijver and Jip van den Dool. Their first two successful shows Een Bebop Verhaal (A Bebop Story) and De Familie Mansøn (The Manson Family, nominated for a BNG new theatremakers’ prize) were both created and produced through Orkater’s young theatremakers’ strand, De Nieuwkomers (The Newcomers). As regular Orkater makers, they are currently working on their third show which will tour to theatres in the Netherlands in 2018/19. Café Doberman will be playing in Amsterdam exclusively at Theater Bellevue.
